What does a hearing test appointment entail?

Video Ear Scan

The first step to a hearing test is checking to make sure that your hearing difficulties are not caused by excessive wax or any other physical medical issues may be contributing to your hearing loss, which you will be able to see for yourself on a large monitor. If this is the case, we may be able to remove the wax, otherwise we can provide a referral to have it removed.

Comprehensive Audiometric Hearing Test

At Beltone, getting your hearing tested is painless, no co-pays, no obligation and FREE. First your hearing professional will perform a computerized audiometric hearing test. This test shows the different sounds levels and exactly what your speech discrimination is in different types of environments. In other words, the test will tell you exactly what you are hearing and what you are not.

During your hearing test, your hearing professional will take you through the steps of a thorough hearing evaluation. These include:

Speech Understanding Assessment: This test will allow us to see how well you can understand words that are spoken in both quiet and noisy environments.

Pure Tone Test: This test measures your hearing ability across the full spectrum of sound. At this point, if we find your hearing is within normal range, the hearing test is complete

Bone Conduction Test: If your hearing isn’t normal, this test determines whether the hearing difficulty that you are experiencing is the result of an inner or middle ear problem.

Ear Anatomy: It is important to understand your results. So, we take the time to explain in detail how your ear works!

Personalized Hearing Health Assessment

Our exclusive Personalized Hearing Health Assessment (PHHA) puts you in control of deciding the best solution for your individual hearing needs. By completing this simple assessment, you provide your Beltone hearing care professional with important information needed to make the right recommendations for your lifestyle. Your Beltone hearing care professional will review the results of your PHHA assessment with you and will give you a hearing screening to find out whether or not you have a hearing loss. He or she will then consult with you on next steps for your hearing care needs.

Live Hearing Aid Demonstrations

If hearing loss is present, we will allow you to do a live in-office test drive of the hearing aids with the exclusive Beltone AVE™ system. Using simulated everyday sounds that you would encounter day-to-day, your Beltone Hearing Professional will demonstrate the benefits of the latest hearing technology before you leave the office. Through the use of ;this surround sound technology, you will have the opportunity to experience what your hearing will be like with the help of a Beltone Hearing Instrument.

Your hearing test should take about an hour, so please be sure that you have allowed yourself enough time.
